Here’s my very first song video to share with the world! This is a song I wrote to help myself remember the option of mentally detaching from the contents of my life to instead just observe them in mindful stillness and self-connection.
This video’s imperfect, but it’s a start! I’m working on getting a clip-on microphone to use for future videos to better amplify my voice. I’ve got a ton of songs to record and share—though not much time for recording them (I made this one late at night after everyone was asleep)—but I’ll post them as I get them made.
I’ve come to realize that this is not the time to be precious and perfectionistic: life is short, and I’ve got things to say (and sing)! This is the time to just write and make as much as I can while the creative waters flow!
Thank you very much for witnessing.
“Climb Out” lyrics
My river’s rushing so fast lately. I’m struggling, trying to not go down. But it seems the more I fight it, the more I start to drown. Climb out, rise up, let the waters push me to my rock, where I watch, not in the story, not trying to swim-- that me is not the one within. I’m just a watcher; here is my rock. Above story-level--here is calm. The real me is not things that happen or stories of identity. The real me is just pure awareness, watching peacefully. Climb out, rise up, let the waters push me to my rock, where I watch, not in the story, not trying to swim-- that me is not the one within. I’m just a watcher; here is my rock. Above story-level--here is calm. Peace cannot come from the current. The contents of life ebb and flow. What stays the same is awareness— the rock where I watch my life’s show. Climb out, rise up, let the waters push me to my rock, where I watch, not in the story, not trying to swim-- that me is not the one within. I’m just a watcher; here is my rock. Above story-level--here is calm.
