People I love
have seas of pain
that make me sorrow and shiver.
I want to help
and harbor them,
but I've got my own wild river,
and sinking me
would help no one--
so on my course I stay,
but our salt-tear
waters mingle
as we each wend our way.

This has a great rhythm to it, almost a rocking cadence that makes me think of waves and boats being tossed about. And of course the words are so true!
