I forgot all about my seasonal “splashings” posts—so it’s high time to indulge in the fun of writing one! I’ll have to keep it short and sweet, though, for sake of time.
Books I’ve read lately (summer + fall)
I’ll just list the titles and give a rating of stars (asterisks) out of five.
Fiction
Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins ***
If It Bleeds by Stephen King ****
A Ruse of Shadows by Sherry Thomas ***
The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins ***
A Killing in the Hills by Julia Keller *
Dune by Frank Herbert **
The Hallmarked Man by Robert Galbraith ****
Never Flinch by Stephen King ***
Nonfiction
Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes ****
No Nonsense Spirituality by Brittney Hartley *****
Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson *****
Those last two are outstanding! I highly recommend them, and I hope to write posts about them sometime.
Writing lately
I’m still working on revising the first draft of my current novel. It’s slow going…apparently my inner Writer does not relish the work of revising. But I’ll keep trying to find ways to get her moving on it, because I really want to get this book out into the world, one way or another!
I’ve kept up with my ~daily “Serenity Splash” poems, because they’re simple and they nourish my soul/inner child/Writer to create.
Just a bit here and there on my other blogs and sections…I’m hoping to do more, because, again, it feeds me! You may be hearing from me again soon with some fresh writing plans/strategies.
Music I’m listening to lately
Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl, of course :)
I’ve taken to just keeping Apple Music’s “Piano Chill” playlist on most of the time in my headphones, and it’s super helpful to relax and calm me!
Kid laughs lately
Twin 1 (age 8) was expressing adoration of our current set of dogs (Winston, Penny, and Papaya) by saying, “Winston is the cutest boy in the world, Penny is the cutest girl in the world…”—then, out of categories for the third dog to win, she made one up—“and Papaya is the cutest memberina in the world.” LOL!
For the rest I’m going to let you take a peek at the twins’ letters to Santa (which their aunt orchestrated)…they have me chuckling.

What a joyful 'Spash!' Thanks for sharing.
Aww, the Santa letters are adorable! ❤️ Also, respect for getting through Dune... isn't it like 800 pages? I never did read it! 😅
