Alphabet Meditation Verses: Intro & A
This is the first of my "alphabet meditation verses," little poems I've written that help me so much with finding equanimity that I decided to fit them into alphabet order for ease of mental reciting. I recite them, for example:
when lying awake at night worrying about things
in morning showers to get my mind on a better track for the day
occasionally in moments of acute distress, to give my mind a distracting task that both calms me down and restores my perspective
I actually recited them in my mind while in the hardest part of labor with my youngest child (until around G, when she was born!), and they helped me keep hold of sanity during that extreme pain.
(mostly) in idle moments throughout the day, keeping a running track of what letter I’m on, as a mindfulness practice
Accepting whatever reality is,
letting go of agenda and will,
just doing the next thing that seems best to do,
given the facts: I’m still.
