I wrote this short poem to correspond with officially announcing my ~daily “Serenity Splash” posts on social media (Instagram and Facebook).
I have really enjoyed making these “Serenity Splashes” posts, and over time it’s become clear that I prefer writing fresh, brief learning-poems over posting quotes from other authors or past poems of mine. I love turning things I’m thinking about into short poems, as aids in learning; and it’s extra fun to pair them with lovely nature photos I take and then share them—in case they help someone else too!
So I’m officially making this a space for fresh learning-poems—like the one below, which has been helping me already. 🪷
When I detach from identity, I get a splash of serenity.
I was recently reading something about how our identities are much broader than we try to make them. We sum ourselves up in one sentence when really, the article argued, we are novellas. I think your poem captures that really nicely--let's not stress over what we think we are or should be, and just be whatever the moment needs. 🌻
